Get ready to ride! Little Rock will soon have its first professionally built urban mountain bike park! Rock Solid Trail Contracting has set a target completion date of mid-June for the approximately 11 miles of new trails nestled in River MountainPark, above the Little Maumelle River Boat Launch and the Little Rock side of the Two Rivers Park Bridge. The project is a joint effort between the city of Little Rock and the Arkansas Parks & Recreation Foundation.

The urban mountain bike park includes three-quarters of a mile of introductory trail at Two Rivers Park. It will feature an undulated hard surface gateway trail, made of chip seal, and will include a small loop for kids on strider bikes.

Downhill flow trails weave across the north side of River Mountain. The trails will be rated green (beginner), blue (intermediate), and black (advanced). Extra wide trails make the ride even more fun. The Black downhills have fantastic big jumps and plentiful rock features abound.

Downhill riders can view bikers on other trails as they descend. While the majorityof parks do not have trails in such close proximity, Leland Couch, Little Rock Parks Design Manager, states that “with 300 feet of elevation change on the north side of River Mountain, it was important to take full advantage of the terrain.”

Advanced riders will be able to do a quick climb up the north side of the mountain. For those who want a more gradual ascent, a green trail will take riders up the mountain and along the south side of the mountain, crossing blue and green trails that lead back to the downhill trails. A magnificent addition to splendid Little Rock!
